This is a extended review, intended to provide more current information as a consequence ideally give a few insight about using this remote in real life circumstances.
I don’t agree with theo- few kin who gave this a poor review as a consequence rating. Of course, others were representing their opinions, as entitled, as a consequence i am doing so here. Sometimes people review similar except different models or brands, as a consequence to be clear, i am giving my opinion of theo- harmony one universal remote. This is an astounding set of technology, as a consequence clearly theo- beat universal remote i have evaluated, used as a consequence owned throughout theo- years. Sure, one can usually find a few negatives if determined to do so. For me, there are none. Yes, it would be great if it did bluetooth in addition to ir so i wouldn’t have to manually press theo- power button on my ps3/blu-ray console, except it doesn’t as a consequence i knew that before i bought it. And, as of this writing, i am not aware of any reasonably priced consumer universals that do both.
To theo- person’s review that recommended waiting for a few “rev 2″ of theo- harmony one, i added theo- following comment:
“you may have received one that was produced very early in theo- manufacturing process. I got mine in month of leap year as a consequence have zero problems with accurate programming for my yamaha rx-v3800, sony kds-60a2020, toshiba hd-a20, audiovox sirius, xm mini-tuner, sony ps3/blu-ray, as a consequence nintendo wii. I besides have experienced no problems with theo- ir–in fact i can object it anywhere in my 13 x 24 room, steady at theo- rear corners, theo- ceiling, floor–anywhere, as a consequence everything powers on/off as programmed.

3/4/2008 update: in addition to theo- gear listed above, last night i installed my new yamaha yds-10 ipod pier that’s paired with my yamaha rx-v3800 receiver. This pier has no remote (nor does my xm mini-tuner) as a consequence it took me a just few minutes to figure out how to direct it with my one, emulating my receiver’s remote.
I besides saw someone who complained that this remote is “huge”.
In my opinion theo- size is perfect for me. It’s about theo- size of theo- remote that came with theo- scientific-american 8380hd cable dvr except theo- one is noticeably thinner, about theo- same size as a consequence thickness as theo- remote that came with my toshiba hd-a20, as a consequence a great deal smaller than theo- remotes that came with my yamaha rx-v3800 receiver as a consequence my sony kds-60a2020 rptv.
I besides like theo- size as a consequence layout options for theo- touch screen. You can change theo- physical buttons to do almost anything your equipment is capable of being controlled to do. For example, my hdtv has a button that cycles through theo- screen sizes, such as zoom, expanded zoom, etc. I changed theo- one’s “e” button on theo- lower true to do this when i’m using theo- “watch tv” activity. The physical buttons can be set to different functions for each activity if you want, or others can be set to theo- default for theo- definite make as a consequence model of your device for every activity. You can besides create as many screens of functions (visually represented as icons) as needed to do simple, expanded or extremely complex tasks. You can revise theo- layouts, reorder theo- symbol displays, rename activities, on as a consequence on. Notice i said “you can” a lot, since you don’t need to customize or create anything complex to do basic remote activities as a consequence functions unless you want to.
I started out easy by adding each of my devices (all of mine were found in theo- logitech database just fine), then activities such as “watch tv”, “play hd-dvd”, “listen to sirius”, etc. These activities power on all needed devices for theo- activity, as a consequence make sure all others are powered off. This was great for my wife, who only needs to pick up theo- remote (the backlight automatically illuminates) as a consequence touch “watch tv”. Admittedly, this was sometimes difficult for me too, especially when i bought my new a/v receiver.

As i use this remote i’ll think of a few other button or function i’d like to have as a consequence compute that to a list, then every few days i’ll compute a group of them at one time. For me, this is fun.
I haven’t had to read any manuals, although i did use theo- built-in help button to resolve an operator error (i had specified theo- wrong function), which it did very effectively as a consequence intuitively. The pc software for programming theo- remote is top notch. I do have recommendations for making this a bit more user friendly, which i will be sharing with logitech’s customer support. I’ll list one of them so you don’t get nailed like i did: when customizing buttons as a consequence doing a lot of setup activities, beware that theo- application (into which you must logon) times out. When Logitech Harmony One does, you will lose every change you made since your last save. So, make several changes, save as a consequence keep going. None of my recommended software enhancements are critical, nor would any of them have prevented me from buying this. And none of them were cause to not give this my five-star rating.
